Inspirational Speaker

On Wednesday, April 2, 2008 the Uniontown High School students plus a few other schools had the chance to see a very inspirational speaker named Dr. Rick Rigsby. The other schools were St. Paul, Fort Scott, Moran, and Girard. He was a very inspirational man and hopefully everyone learned a lot. He was very funny but at the same time very serious. He had four sayings for people to become more successful in life. The sayings were: "Just Stand", "Help people", "Be nice", and "Be on time". Plus more. I learned a lot from what he told us. He even used his real life stories to make us understand more and make us realize how important life is in general.
He had some jokes too for comic relief. He told us that he once weighed like 400 lbs. After he said that he made a joke out of it by saying,"That's a lot of donuts. I could have made love with a bucket of chicken." He told us about how 16 years after he married a woman that loved him for what was inside instead of what was on the outside she was diagnosed with cancer. About six years after being diagnosed she passed on. His dad had said three words and they were," Son, Just Stand." I really liked it personally and I wish he could come every year or every other year or something like that. He really made me think about life in a different perspective and that is something great.
