Abigail Jefferis’ Drawing Chosen as Top in Kansas

“Something to Crow About” has been chosen as the winner for the Drawing category in the “Kansans…As Talented As You Think!” art competition.  Abigail created this piece of art this fall using colored pencil on white drawing paper. She is a senior at Uniontown High School and recently graduated at semester. The work was an Art 4 assignment and it is 12”x15” in size.  Miss Jefferis was recognized with the other winners of the contest at the Native Sons and Daughters Kansas Day Banquet the evening of Friday, January 25th in Topeka.  Prize checks for winning entries were given at the banquet and the art was displayed at that time.  The event organizers provided each category winner with up to two (2) free tickets to attend the banquet.  I am very proud of Abigail’s accomplishment.  She is extremely talented.  There was over 430 statewide entries selected from the highest vote totals of three combined judges.  The Finalists’ judge then selected the winning entries. There was only one winner awarded in each of the following categories: Black and White Photography, Color Photography, Drawing, Freedom, Mixed Media/Digital Imaging, Painting, Pastel, Portrait, and Freedom.  Works of all Finalists will be considered again for inclusion in the 2020 Kansas poster calendar.  All Finalists may not be selected for the poster, as criteria are different.
