UHS Students to be Published in "Celebrating Art"

13 Uniontown Art Students to Be Published

The full-color hardbound art book, “Celebrating Art’ has recently selected 13 UHS Art students’ work to be published in their Fall edition.  This was Uniontown High School’s highest number of accepted students for this contest.  This high quality book includes only the best artworks and thousands of entries were not invited to be published.  To be considered, students must demonstrate hard work and dedication.  Publishing the best art from this contest creates a record of what is important to today's students and it is also an honor and a privilege.  Any media will be considered including charcoal, collage, computer graphics, drawing (pen and ink or pencil), fiber/fabric, mixed media, mosaics, paintings, pastels, printmaking, sculpture and watercolors.

Twelve of the thirteen chosen artists are seniors at UHS. Bri Stokes, the lone sophomore, was selected for her scratch board titled “Aries II”. Seniors, Makenzee Franklin, Chance Fuhrman, Izayah Houk, Anna Jefferis, Tydas Lawrence, Zoe McClure, Aubry O’Neal, and Danielle Young all had their black and white charcoal drawings chosen for ‘Celebrating Art’.  Both Abigail Jefferis and Matthew Morgan had their white charcoal drawings picked.  Abigail’s is named “A Wrinkle in Time” and it is a portrait of an older woman while Matthew’s is titled “Busy Bee”.  These drawings were created on black paper. Jezeriah Simpson and Joy Page were the only eagle artists that submitted color artworks.  Jez’s work titled “Out of the Shadows” was made using oil pastel and Joy used chalk pastel to make “Color of Music”.

I am blessed with a lot of very talented young artists here at Uniontown.  Please like our Facebook page at Uniontown Art Department. I have uploaded many of the works that have been created this year.”  The 2018 Fall Edition of Celebrating Art can be purchased at www.celebratingart.com.
