SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
All colleges have specific dates for students to apply for scholarships. Students must first apply for admission and be accepted into the college before applying for financial aid. It is the responsibility of the student to be in contact with the college or colleges that he or she is considering for the 2009-2010 school year and to be aware of all deadlines for admission and scholarships.

Allen County Community College Scholarship
VFW Post #1165 Scholarship--must have verification of direct descendency from active or deceased members of VFW Post #1165, Fort Scott, KS. Applications are available in the counselor's office.
Uniontown High School Alumni Scholarship
Must have 2.5 GPA and a full time student. Can be applied to a 2 or 4 year college or Vo-Tech School. $400 award.
Brad Holt Memorial Scholarship
Must plan to attend Ft. Scot Community College or Pittsburg State University.
Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc.--applicant must plan to major in accounting at a public or private Kansas University or College.

Bourbon County Family and Community Education Scholarship--applicant must plan to enroll in Family and Consumer Sciences or a related field. Applications will be available in the counselor's office

State of Kansas Scholarship-must complete the Kansas Scholars Curriculum and be named as a designated state scholar. Designated scholars will be notified of their eligibility to apply.
Charles and Eleanor Bennett Scholarship--Must complete the Kansas Honors Curriculum and rank in the top 10% of the senior class. Applications will be available soon.
Dale Dennis Award--The student receiving this honor should possess the following criteria: Citizenship: Shows respect for all citizens of the school and community. Demonstrates integrity in all situations. Service: Is actively involved in school organizations. Is involved in community programs or service organizations. Scholarship: Demonstrates a strong commitment to academic excellence. Is recognized as one who desires to learn beyond the norm. Common sense: Demonstrates practical problem-solving skills. Demonstrates a positive attitude in all situations. Not a monetary award.
KSHSAA Citizenship Award-- The student receiving this award should meet the following criteria: Respect: Shows respect al all times for the flag, our national anthem and the Constitution. Shows respect for all citizens of the school and community. Respects both pubic and private property. Shows respect for the student and adult leaders in the school and community. Demonstrates a tolerance and respect for the beliefs and rights of others. Responsibility: Demonstrates the willingness to assume citizenship and responsibilities in school and community. Works to build school pride through active participation in projects the publicize, honor or beautify the school. Displays good sportsmanship whether as a participant or spectator. Is friendly toward new students and encourages them to become involved in school activities. Reverence: Shows reverence, concern and respect for the wellbeing of others. Not a monetary award.
Additional scholarships may become available through the next four months. Students will be notified on any that may apply to them.
