USD 235 Parents, Guardians, Students, and staff:

I thought I would start this note with a quote that speaks to me in this moment: “Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change”-Brene Brown.  We are all in a vulnerable place with the uncertainty in the world right now.  I do believe that this will be an opportunity to adapt and come together closer as a community.

We have been called upon to change a lot in the past couple weeks and this is a time of great uncertainty.  As the situation continues to change with the COVID 19 Pandemic, new precautions are implemented.  Almost daily, we as a community are asked to adapt and accept the current situation.  I am so proud of the communities that we live in where I hear stories of individuals lending a helping hand and looking out for one another.  The school staff have been working diligently to reach out to students and families while they are figuring out ways to provide education to our children.  I’m so grateful to be a part of this district and to see the efforts they are putting forth in this current crisis.

As things continue to change, our local mental health center is changing as well.  We are adapting and working as hard as possible to provide services during this stressful time.  Starting Monday, our centers will be closed to the public to protect as many individuals as we can from continued spread of the virus.  Very recently, I had announced that I would be providing services out of the Fort Scott office to accommodate some for distance, but that has now changed.  I will begin providing Televideo services to families that are established already and I will continue to take new clients.  Our preferred method of televideo services is Zoom.  The app can be downloaded from the play store from the google play store or the app store for apple devices.  You can also utilize a computer by going to www.zoom.us and sign up for free.  If you are having trouble, please email me and I can help you get set up or we can discuss other options.  My hope is to finalize space in the Uniontown area and provide both in person sessions and televideo sessions in the near future.

With school buildings being closed at this time, please email me if you would like information about starting services.  Please only include your name and phone number and that you are interested in services and I will contact you personally to limit the amount of information sent without encryption.  My school email is skibler@uniontown235.org.  For those that are already established in services, I will contact you to set up a time and assist you in connecting with me.  If you would be more comfortable calling for information, our offices can still be reached for scheduling and to answer questions.
