USD 235 Meal Plan Poster

USD 235 Parents/Guardians,

As we close out our third week of #ContinuousLearning the USD 235 way, I am proud of the job everyone is doing. If you have any issues at all, please communicate with your child’s teacher. You may also communicate with your building principal or Superintendent. We are here for you!!

Thank you to all of you who took the time to vote during the 2020 Best Helmet in Kansas contest.  Uniontown won the first round competition against Eureka (That was great because Eureka is my alma mater), but we lost to Central Heights in Round 2.  Our patrons and students rallied and voted over 8,000 times during Round 2.  Eagle Pride!

Mr. Eden, (Principal at West Bourbon Elementary), is in the process of getting information out to parents of students who will be attending Kindergarten in 2020-21.  If you have not let Mr. Eden know about your plans to send your son/daughter to Kindergarten at Uniontown USD 235 next year please email him and let him know (veden@uniontown235.org).  Also, be looking for information next week regarding plans about Kindergarten Roundup.

I am enjoying seeing all of the projects that so many of our students are doing in their classes or to receive credit for their HS classes.  I am appreciative of the teachers sharing these projects on our website and social media accounts.

We are placing all of these stories on our Facebook and Twitter accounts as well as our webpage.  Please visit www.uniontown235.org for our webpage.  You can also access our Social Media Accounts from the webpage.  We also have an app available to download to any smartphone or device.  You may access the app by going to the Google Store or App Store through Apple.

Our JH/HS staff has begun meeting again to discuss the School Redesign they have been doing during the 2019-20 school year in preparation for the 2020-21 school year.

We are having discussions about graduation and will be reaching out to seniors and their parents in the very near future about potential dates/times.  Our plan is to survey the seniors and their parents/guardians.  Mr. Reith, (Principal at Uniontown JH/HS), is researching several different options and talking to other area schools about their plans.  We are working with KSDE, KDHE, and listening to advice from medical professionals about different recommendations.  We want to have a variety of options available for our seniors and their parents/guardians.

Our technology staff continues to do an incredible job of getting issues worked out. If your student is still having problems please email tech@uniontown235.org for tech support. Please describe your issue and leave a cellphone number so the tech staff can contact you.

As the stay at home order continues, we want to share with you that we remain concerned about all of our students and we do want to make contact with them each week. I know our staff has reached out to either the students or the parents to try and make these contacts to see if there is anything we can do to help. We want everyone to know we need to work together and communicate to have a successful conclusion to this school year.

We are still providing meals on Tuesday and Thursday each week. Those meals have multiple days’ breakfast and lunch in them. Our meal program is now providing approximately 225 meals daily. If you are interested in participating in the meal program, please call our Food Service Director Michelle DeMott at 620-238-4968 to sign up.  She will ask for some information of either a pick up point or your rural address for a delivery.  The meal program information is found on a picture attached with this post.

I would like to thank all of the parents/guardians who filled out our survey after Week One.  The building principals and I went through all of the surveys and passed on pertinent information to our teachers and staff.  We know this continues to be a trying time for all involved.  We want to value your time and circumstances.  We do realize that everyone has a unique situation during these times.

If there is something you think we need to know about, please contact individual teachers with your circumstances.  You can also reach out to the building principal:  West Bourbon Elementary (Mr. Vance Eden) at veden@uniontown235.org and Uniontown JH/HS (Mr. Mike Reith) at mreith@uniontown235.org or USD 235 Superintendent (Bret Howard) at bhoward@uniontown235.org

Sincerely,

Bret Howard, Uniontown USD 235 Superintendent
