Uniontown FFA will have sweet corn for sale this evening at Union Station in Uniontown from 6-8 PM and Saturday at the Fort Scott Farmer's Market from 8 AM until sold out. $7 per dozen.

Uniontown FFA members have been busy this summer attending camps, conventions and performing community service. In late May fifteen Uniontown FFA members attended the Kansas FFA State Convention in Manhattan, KS. Seven freshman members competed in the Conduct of Chapter Meetings contest where they performed opening and closing ceremonies and conducted a meeting using parliamentary procedure. Several members were also recognized for their accomplishments throughout this past school year such as state degree recipients and proficiency finalists. The chapter spent 3 nights and 4 days in Manhattan, Kansas attending the state convention.
In early June four Uniontown FFA members attended the Kansas State University Livestock Judging Camp also in Manhattan. These members sharpened their skills in livestock evaluation and oral reasons.
The FFA sweet corn patch is doing quite well this summer due to the large amount of rain that we’ve received over the past couple of months. The corn was planted in mid April and should be ready to harvest by the end of June. Members spent some time this past week installing an electric fence in an effort to keep pests, such as racoons, out of the patch. If you’re interested in buying sweet corn, keep an eye on the Uniontown FFA Facebook page for selling information.
Several Uniontown FFA members also recently participated in our community service night at the Bourbon County Fairgrounds. Our members helped clean out the sheep barn and installed pens in the dairy goat barn.
We look forward to watching our members excel at their upcoming county fairs that members participate in including Bourbon, Linn and Crawford county. We hope everyone is having a great summer!

Congratulations to Jozie Stagg and Masen Powell (not in attendance) for receiving their Kansas FFA State Degree today at the Kansas FFA State Convention!
The the state degree is the highest honor the state association can bestow upon its members!

Big time congratulations to Uniontown FFA member Timothy Ames on being announced as the state runner-up in the Fruit and Nut Proficiency SAE Award area.
Timothy’s FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience is growing, harvesting and selling black walnuts on his families property. His SAE will only grow from here as he is only a sophomore!

Huge congratulations to Uniontown FFA member Kole Harris for being crowned the State Runner-up in FFA Creed Speaking at the Kansas FFA State Leadership Development Event.
This was a very special way to cap off an incredible freshman FFA year for Kole!
