Subject: Important Announcement: Cancellations Due to Inclement Weather

Dear Parents,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you that, due to the inclement weather, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s music program featuring our 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and the Singing Eagles. We understand that this is disappointing, as our students have been looking forward to showcasing their talents. Our music department will communicate how this performance will be made possible at a later date.

In addition, the field trip to "Real Men Sing" at Bethany College on Tuesday, January 27, has been canceled. Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students. Please stay warm. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school soon.

Warm regards,

Dustin Miller

Dear West Bourbon Elementary Families,

I would like to take a moment to address the current state of West Bourbon Elementary. We are experiencing an increase in illness among both staff and students throughout our building. This spike in sickness has notably affected one of our classes, where several students are currently absent. The impact of these absences on student learning in this class cannot be overstated, and we are committed to ensuring that all our students receive the quality education they deserve during these challenging times.

Given the current circumstances, we must carefully consider the safety and well-being of both our students and staff when making decisions about school or class closures. After careful deliberation, it has been decided that we will contact the parents of the class most impacted by absences and kindly ask them to keep their students home for the remainder of the week. This proactive measure aims to limit further exposure and allow affected students to recover while also protecting the health of their classmates and teachers.

For all remaining classes, we will continue normal operations to facilitate a stable learning environment. As always, we appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate these challenges together. We encourage you to monitor your child’s health closely and keep them home if they are feeling unwell. Thank you for your attention to our current situation.

Sincerely,
Dustin Miller
