During the Marmaton Valley tournament, Lillyan Robinson earned a spot at the Kansas State Forensics Tournament at Sedgwick High School in Sedgwick, KS, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, by earning a 2 during finals with her Original Oration (OO) entitled "The Dangers of AI." OO is an event where students present speeches they have written themselves. At the state tournament, Lilly earned a 4 and two 5s out of 26 competitors in this event. While this wasn't high enough to earn her a spot in the semi-finals, it's certainly nothing to sneeze at for a freshman's first year in Forensics!
A special shoutout to Pam Speer, Lillyan's grandmother, who attended as our judge representative. According to reports, Pam learned a lot and had some fun along the way.
PS: Did we eat at Gilly's? No. Did we settle for Spangles? Yes. Were we "all shook up" about competing at state! Absolutely!

These dedicated students spend the year producing stories, photos, and artwork that highlight our district, and it’s wonderful to see them celebrated.
