Child Find Notice
USD 235 and SEK Interlocal 637 offer Child Find screening to locate, identify, and evaluate all children who may have a disability in the areas of fine motor, gross motor, cognitive, communication, adaptive, and personal/social skills development. For children ages 3-5, developmental screenings clinics will be offered at West Bourbon Elementary on the following date:
Wednesday, January 22 (in the morning)
*Appointments can also be made as needed in the months of September, December, February, and April.

Subject: Important Recess Clothing Guidelines
Welcome back West Bourbon Elementary Family! The WBE staff is excited to have our students return to school and fill the hallways and classrooms with the sounds of learning once again.
As part of the educational process, recess plays a crucial role in our students' daily routine. Unless weather conditions are unfavorable, students will have the opportunity to play outside during recess. It is important that they are dressed appropriately for the weather to ensure their comfort and safety. If the "Feels Like Temperature" (FLT) is below 32 degrees, we will hold recess indoors. The Weather Channel will be our official source for determining the FLT.
Please consider the following clothing guidelines provided below. While this list is not exhaustive, our recess supervision staff will refer to these guidelines to assess if students are adequately dressed for the weather conditions:
- Winter Coat: 32 degrees or below
- Medium Coat: 33 to 44 degrees
- Jacket//Sweatshirt/Hoodie: 45 to 65 degrees
Please keep these guidelines in mind when helping your child prepare for school each day. If your family requires assistance in providing appropriate clothing for your child, please do not hesitate to contact our school counselor, Ashley Rice, at (620) 224-2350.

We will have a night here at USD 235 on January 15th to help any seniors complete the form. The power lifting team went to St. Paul and came back with a 2nd place finish. Cayden Woods, Darian Kibler, and Julian Carpenter each won their weight class. Joseph Robinson placed 2nd. Andruw Martin and Hunter Johnson placed 3rd. Anthony Weyant and Donathon Kibler placed 4th.

JH Synergistics class has been learning about bridge construction and civil engineers the past few weeks. Each group was task with building a balsa wood bridge with a limit of 20 linear feet to hold as much weight as possible. The school record for this project still dates back to 1998 set by Tom Probst at 107 lbs.
Our 6th Grade class is sponsoring a canned food drive for the First Missionary Baptist Church. Collected items will be used to fill Christmas food baskets and to restock their Blessing Closet. If you would like to help them reach their goal of 500 canned or boxed items, please drop donations off at WBE before December 17.
Christmas orders are due December 9th. STUCO members will continue taking orders throughout the month of December and an online shop will be opened in January.
On Friday, November 8 the Applied Biology & Chemistry, Earth & Space, and Botany classes traveled to Springfield, Missouri to tour Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium. The students were exposed to the great outdoors, wildlife, and conservation to help instill values that promote the respect of our land, water, and wildlife. Other highlights of the trip included eating lunch at Lambert's Cafe and a quick stop at Buc-ee's for snacks.
