
We are proud to announce that 3rd grader, Rheason Bloesser was awarded a certificate of achievement for reading the most words for the 2023-2024 school year, at West Bourbon Elementary. Rheason victoriously read 2,768,474 words.


West Bourbon Elementary had 3 students that read over 2 million words this 2023-2024 school year: Caelyn Perry (5th grade) Jazlynne Anderson (5th grade) and Rheason Bloesser (3rd grade). These students worked so hard to accomplish the reading goals that they set out to achieve at the beginning of the year! Can't wait to get started next year, just to see how far they can go!!!

NHS is hosting a blood drive today at the High School from now until 3:00 PM. If we can reach 35 donors today, the school will reach a higher level of scholarship money received from the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks to give out to graduating seniors.

The state awards ceremony for the Kansas Scholastic Press Association contest was held today on the KU campus. Students qualified to compete at the state level by placing in the Regional competition earlier this year. UHS Digital Media students earned 4 medals:

Legislative action has changed the required process related to schools receiving any NEW out-of-district students. The Uniontown FFA Meat Judging team finished in 3rd place at the Kansas FFA State Meat Evaluation contest held in Manhattan, Kansas on Sunday, April 28th on the campus of Kansas State University. There were 40 teams and over 160 competitors in the event. The team was composed of seniors Brycen Stewart, Addisyn Hall and Byron Fry as well as junior Jozie Stagg.
Leading the way for Uniontown was senior Brycen Stewart who finished 6th individually. Addisyn Hall was 9th and Byron Fry was 13th. This same team finished as the State Runner-up in 2023 and competed nationally at the National Western Roundup in Fort Collins, Colorado this past January where they finished 5th in the nation.
The team was coached by Uniontown FFA Advisor Scott Sutton. Sutton commented "This group of seniors have worked very hard over the last four years. In reflecting on their successes it is quite impressive to think they finished in the top 10 as sophomores and in the top 3 the past two years at the state contest. They also represented not only our school, but the state of Kansas at the National Western this past winter. They have certainly left big shoes to fill."


The Uniontown FFA Livestock Judging Team was named the Reserve State Champion team at the Kansas FFA State Livestock Judging contest on Tuesday, April 30th in Manhattan, Kansas. With the win the team has qualified to represent Kansas at the American Royal Livestock Judging contest in Kansas City, Missouri in the fall. Team members include sophomores Klara Stock and Jaci Marlow and freshman Kole Harris and Jace Harvey. The team is coached by Uniontown FFA Advisor Scott Sutton.
Individually the team was led by freshman Kole Harris. Harris finished 8th overall individually and 3rd overall in reasons. Klara Stock was 11th overall and 14th in reasons. Jace Harvey was the 30th ranked individual. There were 88 total teams and 360 individuals in total.
Advisor Scott Sutton commented, "This young team exceeded expectations by earning the title of Reserve State Champion. For a young team to handle a competitive contest with such a high level of maturity is really impressive. Obviously with this finish they have set the bar very high for the next few years of their high school judging career. I look forward to seeing what they can accomplish!"


Baseball and Softball at Oswego for today were canceled due to a downpour on their fields a few minutes ago. We apologize for the late notice. The players just turned around and are headed back to the school now.
