Uniontown's Special Olympic Athletes competed at Girard for Cornhole. Each group dominated and earned 1st place!

UHS Digital Media students were presented with the valuable opportunity to attend the Kansas Scholastic Press Fall Conference hosted at the University of Kansas today. Over 700 students from schools across Eastern Kansas were present to participate in sessions covering topics such as yearbook production, newspaper journalism, photography, and graphic arts.
During the opening session, Uniontown received a shout-out for being the smallest high school represented at the conference, while also being commended for bringing the largest percentage of its student body to the event.

From Nurse Rachel:
CHC will be here on 10/7/24 to provide dental screenings to those students who signed up. Students will only be screened if we received a consent form! Thanks!

Last week our 7th graders tested their water rockets on the football field. We had 2 groups break the school records! Levi Ervin and Kole Bowman built a rocket that traveled 327' in the air breaking the previous record. Scout Eden and Quinten Irsik built a rocket that stayed in the air for a new hang time record of 14.95 seconds. Their names will go up on the Synergistics Record Holders wall of fame. Is your legacy of JH Synergistics record still standing? We have some that date back to the mid 90's still on the wall.

We hosted our Varsity 18 hole Invitational today at Fort Scott with 10 schools in attendance. Senior Reese Gorman finished the meet with a 10th place medal. Our JV girls will play at Girard this Thursday and Reese will go to Garnett on Monday. I was proud of all our girls for playing hard today and competing for all 18 holes even when things didn't go their way on every hole.

Eagles place 1st as a team at Erie golf Tournament. Reese Gorman won 1st place as an individual with Bailey Cox and Jiyah Middleton tied for 11th. Ella Shelton rounded off the teams 4 person team score. Zoey Blanchett and Jarin Cleaver competed for the Eagles as well today.

As the top test scorer from Uniontown Payton McAfee represented Uniontown FFA in the district Spelldown contest which is similar to a spelling bee except students answer FFA trivia questions rather than spell words. Payton performed very well and was the last one standing which left her as the district champion!
Congrats to our first year FFA members on a memorable day!

Here are the details!
Buy a Yard Line- How it works:
1. For $10, you purchase a yard line (96 available) for the game on Friday, September 20th.
2. A yard line will be assigned by random draw and shared with the participants.
3. If the action at the end of the first (1) or third (3) quarter ends on your yard line, you receive $100!
4. If all of the yard lines are not sold, and action at the end of the first quarter ends on an unsold yard line, the prize money will roll over to the 3rd quarter. That is, the 3rd quarter winner would win $200.
5. If all of the yard lines are not sold, and action at the end of the third quarter ends on an unsold yard line, then the prize money is forfeited and all proceeds would go to the booster club.
6. If there is a TOUCHDOWN as time expires at the end of the 1st or 3rd quarter, then the owner of the three (3) yard line on that side of the field will receive the prize.
7. Multiple yard lines may be purchased by the same participant.
8. Coaches and players are NOT eligible to purchase yard lines; however, family members may purchase yard lines.
9. The same person may win the prizes in both quarters.
10. You do NOT have to be present to win BUT we hope you are there cheering on the EAGLES!
11. If less than 20 yard lines are sold, then all money will be refunded and no contest will happen.
Yard lines can be purchased from:
Tara Gorman- tgorman@uniontown235.org
OR Scott Sutton scsutton@uniontown235.org.
Yard lines can also be purchased at the game until kickoff.
